5th Annual International Conference 2017

English Language Teachers’ Association of India (ELT@I) Tirupati Chapter organized its 5th Annual International Conference on “The Bhagavad-Gita: To Become the Best Teacher” in association with Sree Rama Engineering College, Tirupati on 7th & 8th April 2017.
The conference aimed to bring the Bhagavad-Gita “the universal guide” close to the teaching fraternity, and thus bring it close to the students. It succeeded in providing an excellent professional platform to the teachers to get awareness on the recent trends in teaching and imparting professional/life skills from the Bhagavad-Gita to prepare students employable. It facilitated teachers and professionals to understand various concepts from the Bhagavad-Gita to mould themselves as the best teachers/mentors/professionals.
The theme of the conference made it a unique event with 140 participants. Apart from the keynote address and plenary lectures; 120 research papers on varied perspectives on the Bhagavad-Gita were presented by the delegates attended from all corners of the country and abroad. Selected qualitative papers were published in the conference proceedings and the Journal of English Language and Literature; both were released in the inaugural by the guests.
The chief guest of the inaugural Sri Mannem Rami Reddy, Chairman of Sri Rama Engineering College, Tirupati advised the delegates to understand the greatness of the Bhagavad-Gita and use it effectively to mould the characters and personalities of the students for the better future of the country. The keynote speaker Prof. Rani Sadasiva Murthy from Rastriya Sanskrit Vidyapeetha, Tirupati explained the Vital Role of Karma, Bhakti and Jnana in Professional Efficiency according to the Bhagavad-Gita. In his plenary lecture, Prof. T. Viswanatha Rao, Retired Professor of English from Kakinada focused on “Teaching the Bhagavad-Gita for Good Life”. In his plenary lecture, Dr. K. V. Raghupathi from Central University of Tamilanadu focused on “The Bhagavad-Gita: The Art of Man Making”. Dr. L. V. Padmarani Rao from Nanded (Maharastra) in her plenary lecture gave a detailed outline of the Bhagavad-Gita for the benefit of those who have not yet read the Bhagavad-Gita completely and better understanding for all the delegates. Through his plenary lecture, Dr. Kalikinkar Pattanayak from Odisha stressed on the different dimensions of the Bhagavad-Gita for better professional and personal lives.
The unique feature of the conference was that the research paper presentation of the youngest sisters G. Vathsalya VIII standard and G. Hasya VI standard from Keshava Reddy Concept School, Tirupati. They presented the paper entitled; “Sri Krishna: The Best Teacher (Guru) - Arjuna: The Best Student (Sishya)”. They quoted some appropriate verses from the Bhagavad-Gita and explained how they can be integrated to the teachers and students. They recited a few verses from the Bhagavad-Gita and quoted one of the statements of Mahatma Gandhi; “I lost my mother, but the Bhagavad-Gita fulfilled the place of my mother”, which received huge applause from the participants. The guests, speakers and all the participants appreciated the sisters by stating that till today school children have been by-hearting and reciting verses from the Bhagavad-Gita in the competitions but this is unique as these sisters tried to explain and integrate the verses from the scripture for teachers and students.
Dr. G. Reddi Sekhar Reddy, Secretary Tirupati Chapter and Convener of the Conference said; the chapter cherished with the overwhelmed response of the intellectual delegates from faraway places in the country and abroad with their experience oriented research papers and presentations. Some of the delegates opined that they got a wonderful opportunity to read the scripture for the first time and learnt many useful things from it for professional development and some others opined that they got an opportunity to re-read the valuable scripture and the greatness of the scripture is that each time of reading, it certainly shows a different perspective of understanding it for better professional as well as personal life.

Thank you for your contribution, cooperation and support for the success of our conference

Dear Sir/Madam,

Greetings from ELT@I Tirupati Chapter.

We hope all of you have reached your homes safe by the grace of God Almighty and resumed your work today.

We are here to extend our heartfelt thanks to you all for your contribution, cooperation and support for the success of the conference.

We tried our level best to organize the conference in a systematic way but in spite of our efforts, some discomforts caused in the matter of schedule and lunch on the second day.

Regarding the schedule, we planned well to provide the transparent schedule available to all of the participants slots selected by themselves but due to some technical lapses that file was corrupted and further for the night slots we could not find much encouragement and response.

Regarding the lunch, in most of the conferences organizers use token system. But if some one (husband/wife/children/parent) accompany with a participant they may feel embarrassed to take food. We treat all the people those who come to our conference as our guests, so for the past four years we never used tokens and allowed all to take lunch. In the previous conferences we didn't find any problem but this year there was some problem with food as there were some outsiders(college students or some other) entered. Actually we could not expect that.
However, we sincerely regret for the inconvenience caused. We hope you could understand that was not intentional but unexpected.

We hope you could accept our sincere apology for anything that caused for your discomfort during the conference.

ELT@I Tirupati Chapter wishes you all the best.

Thank You,
Dr. G. REDDI SEKHAR REDDY
Founder & Secretary

Requesting opinion on continuous paper presentations for 30 hour - Reg.

Dear Sir / Madam,
Congratulations, your registration for the conference is completed.

In the first conference, ELT@I Tirupati Chapter has announced and has been treating that all the participants as members of the organizing committee and considers their opinions precious.

Hence, this is to request your opinion on the proposed paper presentations.

We are planning to organize this conference in an innovative and unique way by arranging 30 hour continuous paper presentations in a single venue from 10.30am on the 07-04-2017 to 4.30pm on 08-04- 2017.

Generally, we schedule paper presentations in parallel sessions and it has become a formality, so all the participants are unable to listen to all presentations to learn more.
So if it is in a single venue, all the participants can listen to all presentations and it can ensure maximum desired output.

Each and every one of the participants comes after studying and preparing on a specified topic.  If we listen to all presentations, we can understand “The Bhagavad-Gita” in more than a hundred different perspectives.  It gives the superior experience of reading the Bhagavad-Gita a hundred times, as all the participants have read, understood and present what they have understood.

So we thought of scheduling the presentations continuously for 30 hour, so the conference will be a unique one (Hence we named it as; The Bhagavad-Gita Mahayagna) and each one of we can feel proud to be a part of it by setting a record.

But to go with this plan, we need your support and acceptance; hence we are putting it open to you all to express your opinion.

From the evening of 7th to the morning of 8th we will have three slots of 4hours each (6pm to 10pm - 10pm to 2am - 2am to 6am – 6am to 10am). If at least 50 participants are willing to cooperate with these slots we can go for it.

We will have flexibility of taking rest as those who will participate till 12 night can take rest afterwards, and who will participate from 12 night can take rest till 11.30 night and come to the venue by 12 night. Transport will be provided between the venue and the place of accommodation apart from providing the minimum facilities such as water, snacks and if possible tea.

So, we request each one of you by name to respond to this request with your suggestions, remarks, and opinions to make it a success. We are expecting your opinions by 30th evening so that we can plan accordingly.

We hope, well experienced academicians like you can understand the spirit behind this attempt, that is to make the discourses through the presentations more fruitful.
